There are so many camping
outdoor gear products on the market today that the challenge
is choosing between them. The shape of a sleeping
bag is either rectangular or they are mummy shaped. For
travel the two
sleeping bag designs to consider are the two which are the
most weight and stuff-size efficient: the mummy style and
the rectangular style.
Mummy
Mummy-shaped bags offer the best
warmth because they conform to the body's contour, which
takes up less room and weighs the least. Mummy bags are
tapered for fit, wider at the shoulders and narrower at the
feet. Conventional campers will
be attracted to the dependability and value of the
mummy bags.
Also, because a mummy-style
sleeping bag doesn’t zip all the way down, not as much heat
escapes. You
will want to make sure that it is going to keep you warm
and you will want to have a little bit of air in your
sleeping bag, but you will find that there are mummy
shaped sleeping bags will give you the best advantages
during the night.
Rectangular
Rectangular bags are most
commonly used for general camping. Rectangular type Provides
more space for movement Can be zipped together to create a
double
sleeping bag Can be fully opened and used as an extra
blanket Because of the extra space they are not as
efficient in keeping you warm. Rectangular, summer bags
may not have draft collars, but they are an instrumental
part of winter bags. Most rectangular bags
don't have built-in hoods like mummy bags do, although
some have fabric extending beyond the upper top of the
bag. While
the rectangular bags end abruptly just above the
shoulders, the mummy bags have a hood that can be pulled
tight around the sleeper's head. If you camp in varying
temperatures, it is best to own a rectangular bag for warm
weather and a mummy bag for cold weather.
Sleeping bags and camping
